Golden oil poured from a brass vessel in an artisan workshop

Our Story

We are not
in a hurry.

A

Arova exists for the person who has learned that the most valuable part of a beauty routine is not the result — it is the twenty unhurried minutes in the middle of it.

The Arova Manifesto

How it is made

Four chapters, in order.

01The Origin

A ledger in the margins

The first formula was not written as a formula. It was a list of botanicals in the margin of a household ledger, kept by a grandmother who measured in handfuls and trusted her nose more than any scale. We spent two years learning to read it properly.

02The Method

The growers

We buy from a small number of farms — hibiscus in coastal Kerala, moringa and curry leaf in inland Tamil Nadu, amla on the Deccan plateau. Each harvest is pressed within a day. When a season is poor, we make less rather than source elsewhere.

03The Science

Eleven days

Infusion happens in copper, at low heat, over eleven days. It is a slow, unglamorous process that cannot be compressed without changing the feel of the oil on the scalp. So we do not compress it.

04The Result

Filled by hand

Every bottle is filtered once, filled by hand and numbered on the base. A batch is under four hundred bottles. When a batch ends, it ends — and the next one waits for the next harvest.

What we believe

A philosophy, not a promise.

We will never tell you that an oil transforms hair overnight. What we will tell you is exactly what is inside the bottle, where it came from, and how it feels to use.

  • — Provenance stated plainly, batch by batch.
  • — Fragrance from botanicals alone.
  • — No exaggerated claims, ever.
  • — Glass, paper and foil. No plastic in the box.
